In my school’s book club, we are reading a book called Peak, and it is about a 14 year old boy who Climbs Mt.Everest. I have watched videos about Mt.Everest climbers, and it seems so dangerous. I wonder if it is actually not as scary as it looks. Also, I wonder how it feels to be in thin air like that. The highest I have ever been is Copper Mountain in Colorado, and I didn’t notice the air was any thinner there. I am very curious about how much it costs to get all of that supplies. I wouldn’t want to spend a lot of my money on climbing supplies, Because I would still have to pay for mountain guides. On the other hand, the more money you spend, the safer you will be. The Idea of getting a climbing guide scares me , Because getting a bad guide might be very bad. All in all, it sounds like a very dangerous thing to do, but I have never Climbed it, and maybe it is not like it seems.

Wow, sounds like a great book. Rock climbing does sound fun and it is very expensive. We are reading a book in my class called The outsiders. Its about a big group of kids who are like friends and everything together. check out my blog.

Hi, Virginia!
My name is Mrs. Wohlafka, and I am a commenter for Student Blogging Challenge Week 9.
I was on top of a mountain in the United States (I don’t remember which one), and I definitely felt that the air was thinner, because I felt light-headed. Thin air actually means there is less oxygen in it, so they had an oxygen bar on top of the mountain. So I think “Peak” is realistic.
For a true story of the youngest person to every climb Mt. Everest, 16-year-old Mark Pfetzer, read his autobiography, “Within Reach: My Everest Story”.
